'Aluna' -
This is the word used by the Kogi tribe of the Sierra Nevada in Columbia, to refer to The 'Great Mother' who created the world in water -
They say : 'Water is Memory & Possibility'. They say "she created the world in water and she creates the future and this is how she speaks to us" -
'The Mind inside Nature - The IDEAS of THINGS are already conceived in the waters of Aluna'.
Water holds Memory - this is the basis of Homeopathic thinking, this is how a remedy retains its healing essence, it's memory. This intrinsic memory is held within the water eventhough it is so diluted none of the original toxic material can be detected. Our bodies and the whole of nature is made up of at least 70% water. Are we Memory itself? Is memory stored within each of our cells? memories of our Ancestors, memories of who we really are, memories of the true source of our existance?
The Kogi also say "There is no life without thought" - this is a very profound statememt. Memory is based in the past - A memory cannot be revisited without our 'thinking' about it, conjuring it up in our minds. Some would say the past does not exist, it is dead and gone, memory is like a dream - and this is true but it is what we are made of. The past, which is now only a memory, has made of us what we are now. Living in the 'present moment' frees us from our shakles of the past and offers new opportunity to begin afresh moving breath by breath, momemt by moment into the future which actually never comes! AAhhhrrgh. . trapped in the present moment? . . . . . . or freed by it?
Thought creates our 'stories' and it is from them that we weave our destiny which eventually leads us home - back to the great ocean from whence we came. We are what we think and we think our'selves' into existance. Thought creates matter.
At sixteen it was evident that my Mother was an alcoholic – I had my theories and my 'reasons why' . My main theory was, that she was trying to forget - dull her thoughts so she could be free in the 'here & now'. It never really worked for her because the nature of her life just wouldn't allow it. My Father challenged her constantly and she denied she ever had a problem. She was a 'secret' drinker, so there could be no acknowledgement. Eventually whilst driving into, or out of, town (having probably forgotten where she had parked!) she was stopped by the police and breathalised - positive! Denial was no longer an option. Access to alcohol was no longer possible and quite quickly she slipped into Altzeimers. For me this was a natural progression for her - Total forgetting.
Looking at this disease - which slowly but surely robs you of your memory - Little by little the world as we know it fades away, whilst the synapses to the brain, which feed it with the memory of how to do this and how to do that - recognition, reason why we are even here and how to communicate, eventually forget how to reach their target -The Brain, with the information that we need to function - These synapses fizzel out and slowly the altzeimer sufferer can no longer exist in this body, in this physical world. The memory of how to function is lost. Could it be that the body is slowly dehydrating because organs are shutting down and the 70% of which we are, no longer holds our life picture? "There is no life without thought" the "Ideas of things" are lost.
Memory, although stored in the past and no longer a 'reality' is fundamentally all we have to function with in this physical world. Every thing is based upon it - everything!
If we couldn' t remember how words were formed we would be unable to communicate. If we forgot we had to eat we would soon fade away. If we forgot that fire, water, roads, cliff edges were dangerous we wouldn't last long. The clinging onto memory can also hold us in a dangerous place - one of the past, of non-reality - Yet we do have choice in this and the awareness to let go of stuff we no longer need and create new memories if we wish - So memory is nothing, yet the foundation of everything. A conundrum!
I agree with the Kogi that there is no life without thought. This is, at a simple level, one of the principals of quantum physics - that the experimenter affects the experiment - with his thought, his expectations. The new wave of spirituality speaks of creating our own realities with our thoughts - without them we would not percieve and without perception life would be a meaningless jumble.
The Kogi perceive that thought arises from the water - the mother of all memory and possibility - and this makes sense to me. Worlds 'out there' are simply projections. All life is happening within us - within the waters of our own being, where future is created simultaneously from the deep memory within this water - The Mother. The memory of our ancestors stir within the watery cells of our being, so do the 'past lives' we feel we have lived and all the de-ja-vue's we are tickled with from time to time - all arising from within us, from our own watery cells, arising from all other watery cells in the cosmos, defined and individuated only, by our own personal thoughts of Seperation.
Loss of memory could be loss of Seperation - Now there's a thought - Bring it on sweet Unity!
Lest we forget, each cell is the microsocm of the macrocosm and holds the memory of the whole of us. Imagine just one cell can be 'cloned' and our whole physical reality is reproduced perfectly. How is that? Is it a miracle! Regards the feelings, past stories, consciousness, individuality etc – well I have no idea but very open to exploration!
P.S I was born on Remembrance Day, but I am not interested in remembering War - differences and struggles for supremecy. I want to remember my watery 'SELF' and the Unity, which, by its very nature, offers me connection and total equality with all my brothers & sisters on this journey called Life. The more I remember who and what I really am, the more I Bow to YOU, deep and long.
